RingsendRingsend is famous for its quaint houses with a variety of colourful brick facades, and has come to represent that very Irish inner-city suburb, making it popular with film and TV ads. The occupants of these homes have decorated their houses in their own style, and one can sense a community spirit, as streets are lined with decorations and flags during major sports events or during the festive season. Looming over the suburb is a giant gas ring of iron, a relic from the now extinct gasworks nearby, but still an important landmark in the area. Similar houses are found elsewhere in Dublin, but none quite so distinct as in Ringsend.
