Christchurch & St Patricks Cathedral

Christchurch Cathedral is one of the oldest and most well-known cathedrals in Dublin, and is worth a short visit. It does in fact belong to the Church of Ireland even though the major religion in the Republic remains Roman Catholicism. Attached to the cathedral is an interesting overhead bridge, which leads to the Dublinia museum, located in the heart of the medieval town.

St Patrick’s is probably the most well-known of Dublin’s cathedrals, taking its name from the patron saint of Ireland, who is reputed to have a baptized followers from a well on the grounds surrounding the cathedral. It was also the seat of its most famous dean, Jonathan Swift, famous for his satire Gulliver’s Travels. The grounds are a pleasant spot to escape the city traffic. Close by is the Marsh’s Library.
