St James’s

St James’s could be considered London’s royal suburb, as it is home to Buckingham Palace, the British royal family’s London residence, and St James’s Palace, home of the Prince of Wales. St James’s park is a pretty and well manicured green area adjacent to The Mall, down which many a royal carriage has passed. Military tradition is kept alive on Horse Guards Parade at the park’s east end, and it is here that the Queen’s official birthday is marked with pomp and ceremony.
